As a freelance consultant, I help a wide variety of clients in different specific technical fields. My services include designing, deploying and migrating secure Windows and Linux environments, SharePoint environments and company identities and websites, and specific photography assignments.
Imaging Consultant, Landbouwkrediet/Credit Agricole, Brussels 2009 – present

As Imaging Consultant, I create and modify the necessary Windows XP images based on the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2008 to help the client roll out a standardized desktop environment over all workstations within the Landbouwkrediet/Credit Agricole organization.

Senior Systems Engineer, European Commission, Worldwide 2008 – 2009

As a Senior Systems Engineer for the European Commission, I was responsible for all server and workstation maintenance on 140 delegations of the External Relations department of the European Commission.

In this function, I worked closely with the architects helping defining the delegation’s needs, deploying solutions and managing Change and Release management for environment, server and workstation updates.

For workstations, my role was specifically a third line support role for problems encountered by users on workstations, resolving these problems and managing these known problems in a knowledge base. These problems included all client-installed software, such as Microsoft Office. As Change and Release manager, I also oversaw all updates and patches of the standard software rollout, and followed up rollouts of new software packages across +3000 workstations set up over these 140 worldwide delegations. Software and patch management was done with LANDesk.

To host and maintain document management and workflow, I designed and set up a SharePoint environment based on Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 SP1 and Microsoft Search Server 2008 Express. Within this environment, the DG RELEX helpdesk and support team was able to manage and collaborate on creating documentation, follow up projects and managing the Change and Release Management processes.

This role required thorough and in-depth knowledge of Windows XP including deployment methods through WDS and MDT, Windows Server 2003, Active Directory and networking skills, together with knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, in addition to knowledge on BackupExec, Exchange and SharePoint in an ITIL service delivery environment.

Senior IT Solutions Engineer, SkillTeam, Benelux 2007 – 2008

Within SkillTeam, I consulted multiple companies in their workstation and networking environments.

For Axa Tech, I developed their testing and acceptation infrastructure for workstations. In a virtual environment, 50 Windows XP machines were used to test application rollouts in different scenarios. Once these packages were sufficiently tested and proved to be able to be rolled out over 6000 machines without glitches, I oversaw the release of these packages through Computer Associates’ Unified Software Delivery. My role for this position was technical in setting up the VMware environment and the virtual machines, copying the live Active Directory environment which is in use in Axa Belgium, and coordinating 5 packagers and system engineers in packaging, testing and rolling out these software packages over different testing environments and the live environment. This position required thorough knowledge of VMware, Windows XP and it’s deployment methods, Windows Server 2003 and client software. Packages were created using InstallShield and Wise. I was responsible for designing and creating a Microsoft Office SharePoint 2007 pilot environment create a document management and workflow platform to follow up and manage release related tasks.

For other SkillTeam clients such as Fountain and Asco, I offered consulting for Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 to 2003 and 2007 and SQL Server migrations from 2000 to 2005, onto a VMware ESX 3 cluster set up in High Availability.

Senior Support Engineer, Valid, the Netherlands 2005 – 2006

For Valid, I delivered engineering services to clients on workstation and networking environments.

For Sabic Europetrochemicals, I was member of the “Local Support” team, delivering second level support to clients and their workstations. Tasks included setting up workstations, and resolving problems users encountered with their workstation, end-user software together with the “server maintenance” team. This position required thorough knowledge of Windows XP and its deployment options, Microsoft Office and SMS.

For Vodafone, I also was responsible for maintenance of the end-user environment on Sun Solaris, using Apache and JBoss in NFS environment. At Protomation, I implemented an open source groupware solution called OpenXchange.

Network Administrator, IPTE, Genk 2002 – 2004

For IPTE, I was responsible as single network administrator for 150 workstations and 12 servers. 20 of these workstations were CAD drawing machines, with high-spec graphic cards running Pro/ENGINEER and AutoCAD. Within IPTE, I was therefore the single point of contact for all workstation and network related problems, and oversaw the migration from a Windows NT 4.0 domain to a Windows 2003 forest, including migrating Exchange 5.5 to 2003. My tasks included rolling out Windows XP, software updates through Shavlik NetChk and printer administration, antivirus through McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator and firewalling through Microsoft ISA Server 2000.
